Meynell gained his medical education at the London Hospital. He was clinical ophthalmic assistant to East Suffolk and Ipswich Hospital. Meynell served as a captain in the RAMC and was ophthalmic surgeon to the 2nd Western General Hospital in Manchester. He died suddenly on 21 May 1926.
