Knight studied medicine at Owens College Manchester. He was junior house surgeon at MRI and Salford Royal Infirmary, and became senior house surgeon in 1895. Knight was a major in the RAMC territorial, and honorary medical referee Royal Nation Hospital for Consumption, Ventnor. Knight was a member of Manchester Pathological Society.
