Little is known about Thomas Ollier's background, although it is probable that he grew up in the Manchester area and was born around 1762. By the 1790s he is described as a practicing surgeon in Manchester. He was a medical officer at New Bailey Prison, Manchester until his death on 9 September 1823. He was a friend of Charles White, and is believed to have received his medical museum, including the mummified corpse of Miss Beswick [see file on Charles White for further information].
