Pawel Koprowski was not a medical man, but was a Manchester textile merchant (though born in Moscow). After his death in 1957, his son, Hilary Koprowski, a medical doctor in America, presented some money from Pawel's estate to provide a travelling scholarship for a medical student at Manchester (with the provision that the money should be spent on holidays and not for work).
