Pratt graduated in medicine from the University of Manchester in 1953 and took the DA in 1956. she held house appointments at Stockport Infirmary, Stepping Hill Hospital and Withington Hospital, and was later a part-time anaesthetist to Cheshire County Council. She also worked part-time in general practice.
She was the wife of Dr Stanley Pratt.
