Miller gained his medical education at the University of Manchester and was house physician at MRI. He was honorary medical officer to Urmston Cottage Hospital before going to Market Drayton, where he was assistant chest physician to Cheshire Joint Sanatorium. Miller was a member of the British Tuberculosis Association and the Midlands Thoracic Society.
