Magee was house physician at Salford Royal Hospital and senior resident medical officer to Booth Hall Infirmary Blackley. He settled in general practice in Crumpsall, Manchester, and later in Salford. Magee was also honorary physician to Manchester and Salford Blind Aid Society and was a member of the Salford Medical and Panel Committee.
