Lee was registrar at West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmonds, senior registrar in radiology at Middlesex Hospital and spent time as a radiological fellow at Vancouver General Hospital, Canada. He was later appointed consultant radiologist at MRI and part time lecturer at the University of Manchester.
