Lewis held junior appointments at Northampton General Infirmary, Royal Portsmouth Hospital and Gloucester County Asylum. He was physicians assistant at MRI from 1871 to 1872. Lewis was later surgeon to St Andrew's Convalescent Hospital. He died in 1897.
