Administrative / Biographical History

Peter Le Sassier MD was a French doctor living in Rochdale before coming to Manchester in 1790. Le Sassier was appointed honorary physician to MRI in 1790. He resigned in 1795 due to ill-health - he had caught a fever from visiting the home-patients of the hospital and did not want to run any further risks. He remained living in Manchester, and died sometime between 1815 and 1821.
