Jolleys graduated in medicine from Liverpool university in 1942. He held house appointments at MRI, before becoming a consultant surgeon at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, SMH and the Duchess of York's Hospital, Manchester. He was president of the Manchester Medical Society in 1977-8.
