Leverkus was born in Manchester on 31 March 1900. She studied medicine at London School of Medicine for Women, where she qualified and later proceeded MD in obstetrics. Leverkus held junior appointments at Royal Free Hospital, Royal Northern Hospital and Ancoats Hospital, Manchester. In 1928, Leverkus entered general practice in Buckinghamshire, where she practiced until 1963. Leverkus was particularly interested in midwifery and antenatal care of a high standard. She died on 7 December 1966.
