Poole-Wilson graduated at Trinity College Dublin in 1928. He was appointed at Salford Royal Hospital in 1929, and worked with Geoffrey Jefferson. He was Hunterian professor at the Royal College of Surgeons in 1946. A genito-urological surgeon, he was a consultant surgeon at SRH and the Christie Hospital. A founder member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons, he was its president in 1965-7.
