SCC writes to his sister regarding the trial for the Phoenix Park Murders, [where his brother, Lord Frederick Cavendish was assassinated]. He writes that John Poyntz Spencer, 5th Earl Spencer is worried that the trial will take a long time but there is an informer still to be interviewed. He reports that he is confident that there is enough evidence to convict two of the suspects. He informs his sister that Lady Lucy Cavendish (néè Lyttelton) and his father, William Cavendish, 7th Duke of Devonshire should not be left alone. He reports that Lord and Lady Spencer are well.
