SCC writes to his sister that he has arrived at Lismore on Thursday afternoon and that William Cavendish [6th Duke of Devonshire] was glad to see him. He writes that the Lord Lieutenant arrived and a large body of the tenants and the people of Lismore erected "triumphal arches" and "cheered vociferously". He writes that "Lord C." has not been very well and that there is to be a ball on Monday. He advises his sister it is unlikely she will come to Lismore this year as no one knows for how long the Duke will stay. Sent from: Lismore Castle, date stamped 22 Sept.
