Lord Granville writes to SCC to inform him to telegraph [Sir James] Shuttleworth as he had left the Council office before Granville could arrive. He writes that he was advised by Shuttleworth to use his influence in a matter and acknowledges that Shuttleworth has little influence over Granville.
