Scope and Content

Gladstone writes to SCC regarding a letter received from SCC and Hugh Eardley Childers. He writes that they have to give in to the demands of Garnet Wolseley, 1st Baron. He reports further on his views on railway construction and advises that they review construction projects from the Crimean War. He writes that a committee should be formed which includes SCC, Childers, [Joseph] Chamberlain, John Wodehouse, 1st Earl of Kimberley and Thomas Baring, 1st Earl of Northbrook.
