Mr Knollys writes that at 9 o'clock this morning it was thought that the Queen only had minutes to live. He writes that she since made a rally but it is not believed she can continue in this state for much longer. He further writes that whilst the Prince of Wales would like SCC to be at Osborne, he believes that as Lord President SCC should stay in London to superintend the summoning of the Privy Council on the death of the Queen. He finally writes that should SCC telegraph to him, would he use the Foreign Office Cypher. Sent from: Osborne. Letter is marked "Confidential".
