Scope and Content

SCC writes a draft letter to Lord Grey regarding flogging in the Army. He writes that Lord Grey made contradictions in his speech in Parliament. SCC writes that he believes judgements should not be made on corporal punishment in the Army until the outcome of the Commission on court martials is known. He writes that commissioners such as John Wilson-Patten had not taken part in the debate because of their role in the Commission. The letter is written on paper marked with Kimbolton Castle, St. Neots, date stamped, 5 April.
