Wolseley writes regarding the proposed expedition to Khartoum to relieve General Charles Gordon. He writes that no preparations have been made and it may be disastrous if nothing is done, comparing the situation to Alexandria in 1882. He writes that they need the high Nile in order to be able to travel via ship and if it is missed they will need 1000 camels. He writes that according to his calculations, Gordon may only have 200 rounds of ammunition left. Sent from: London, date stamped, 2 Aug.
