The Queen writes to SCC to give her thanks in the way he has been dealing with affairs in India and Afghanistan. She writes that she is enclosing a letter from Duleep Singh whom she describes with affection. She writes that although his kingdom has been absorbed into the British Indian possessions, she wishes that he does not fall lower than "an English country gentleman." There are three sheets enclosed as part of the letter which transcribe the contents of the letter from the Queen and are written on Bakewell headed paper.
