Mr Liveing writes offering the condolences of himself and "many at Cambridge" following the death of SCC's father [7th Duke of Devonshire]. He further writes that "no finer character ever adorned a high station" and of the late Dukes "never failing interest" in the University. He finally writes that the University now have only fourteen days to choose a new Chancellor and asks whether SCC will allow his name to be put forward for consideration. Sent from: Cambridge.
