SCC writes to his father that he is curious to hear what his sister [Louisa Cavendish] thinks of the Crystal Palace exhibition and awaits her letter. He writes that the fishing attempts have not been successful. He informs him that he has been working five and a half or six hours and feels he is doing enough. However, he dislikes some parts of his lessons, particularly English composition which he hates "mortally". He describes the arrival of another boy King who he does not object to but also does not consider highly. Sent from: Axminster, date stamped 23 May.
