SCC writes to his father that they arrived in Cronstadt on Saturday and that it was a good passage from Copenhagen. He reports that they got to Copenhagen on Monday and he believes Copenhagen is the "most wretched looking [city] that I had ever seen". He writes that they went to a museum that was worth seeing and walked on the ramparts where he could only see pools of stagnant water. He informs his father that the coronation will not be held sooner that 7 September and they will not need to go to Moscow for another fortnight. SCC wishes to go sooner as it is very quiet on the island and in St Petersburg as everyone has gone to Moscow. He writes that he will be presented at the Peterhof on Thursday. On 12 August, he writes they have visited the Winter Palace, the Hermitage and most of the churches except St Isaac's which they are visiting this morning. Sent from: St Petersburg, date stamped 11 August.
