SCC writes to Granville regarding Willliam Ewart Gladstone's speech in the House of Commons on the fall of Khartoum. He writes that Gladstone has placed some of the blame with SCC as he mentions in the speech that the expedition failed because of military difficulties. SCC writes that he did not contribute to any delays and the plan should have been in place far sooner. He writes that he cannot shirk the whole question but he cannot "support what was said by W. Gladstone." Sent from: London, date stamped, 24 Feb.
