Mr Brett writes concerning the coalition between SCC and Lord Salisbury. He writes that he has seen John Morley who hoped SCC would refuse to form a coalition with Lord Salisbury and explains his [Morley's] reasons for this. He further writes of Morley's support for SCC stating that "I [Morley] look upon him [SCC] as the strongest bulwark we have against all the socialist doctrines I hate" [speech marks in original letter]. He writes that Morley commented that Parnell had sent for O'Brien [William O'Brien - Irish Nationalist]. He finally writes giving his own reasons against a coalition. Sent from: 1 Tilney Street, London.
