Scope and Content

Wolseley writes regarding the proposed expedition to Khartoum to relieve General Charles Gordon. He writes regarding co-operation between Navy and Army. He reports that naval troops could be attached to army batallions to ensure a safer operation down the Nile and his proposed plan could take 11 weeks. He writes that he will enclose the recommendations of Major General M Neill, Major General Sir Redvers Buller and Colonel Buttin. Sent from: London, date stamped, 29 July.
