Wolseley writes to SCC regarding the proposed expedition to Khartoum to relieve General Charles Gordon. He writes to propose that he travels to Suakin as soon as a public announcement of the expedition is made. He writes that it will show the government behaving earnestly in their promise to relieve Gordon and he reports that he has reputation of avoiding bloodshed so is the ideal candidate to be sent rather than a younger officer.
