Mr Chamberlain writes in response to SCC's letter of February 18 and advises SCC that there is no reason for him to hurry home. He further writes concerning the Queen's Speech and a debate on the Address. He also writes advising Labouchere's attack on the Government in response to the Cleveland Street scandal was a "fisaco". He writes concerning the political situation in Ireland, the Land Purchase Bill and advises that the Ulster Conservatives to be "recalcitrant and inclined to play their old game". He writes concerning the situation with France and Egypt, confirming that when he sees Lord Salisbury he will "urge on him a most decided attitude regarding the French...we have got to stay in Egypt". Finally he writes that influenza is "about again" with many MPs absent from the House of Commons through illness. Sent from: 40 Princes's Gardens, London.
