SCC writes to his father that they anchor in Kiel this evening and will spend two days there. He writes that if the weather is fine, they will arrive in Portsmouth on Wednesday or Thursday. He reports that the festivities in Moscow ended with the fireworks which were a failure as as the weather there was a fog and the wind was the wrong way. He writes that the Austrian and French Ambassadors' balls were splendid and "cut out ours". He informs his father that he will head to Belgrave Square in London as soon as he lands. Sent from: Kiel (written on HMS St Jean d'Acre), date stamped 9 Oct.
