Dr Butler writes thanking SCC for his recent letter published in The Times concerning benefactions to Cambridge Trinity University. He also writes of the benefaction made by Mr McClean who gave £12,500 to found a Newton Studentship for the "special study of astronomy". He writes that in a few years they will come into £70,000 bequeathed by Bishop Allen of Ely for the express purpose of creating new fellowships.
