Wolseley writes to SCC regarding regimental transport during peacetime. He lists the methods employed by the armies of Italy, France, Austria and Germany. He proposes that a transport company be kept with each regiment but does not wish to draw upon the already reduced numbers in the infantry batallions. He writes to request that at least one army corps is formed for regimental transport. Sent from: London, date stamped, 16 Aug.
