Mr Gladstone writes concerning [General] Gordon's journals specifically in response to SCC's earlier letter, drawing attention to the suggestions he has made in pencil. He also writes that "we cannot in any way take upon ourselves the office of deciding whether the passages of accusation and intimidation against ourselves can or cannot be published".
