Mr Cavendish writes concerning O'Rorke and the living of Edensor, enclosing letters of reference from the Bishop of Southwell and Canon Abraham. He also writes concerning the living of Baslow, Mr Carpenter and Mr Girdlestone who he believes at the age of 26 is too young for the position. He further writes of other candidates being Canon Noakes (recommended by Wrench), Canon Prior and Mr Carter(recommended by the Bishop of Ripon). He also writes concerning the Territorials and confirms he has received approval from the War Office for the Scheme for Derbyshire. He further writes that he has not heard any political news of late however expects "interesting debates" over "the Indians in the Transvaal, Education and Ireland" when Parliament meets. He finally writes that he [Mr Cavendish] has had a letter from Sir Edward Tennant asking him to go on the "Board of the Times" however he feels it would be wise to decline the offer.
