Scope and Content

Prince George writes to SCC regarding Command positions in India. He writes that the Command of Madras needs to be filled and suggests Sir Frederick Roberts as a candidate. There is an endorsement written in black ink which reads, "3 Feb? and 7 March 1881. H.R.H. Duke of Cambridge, Madras Command wishes to fill it up." Sent from: London, date stamped, 7 March.
