SCC writes regarding the proposed expedition to Khartoum to relieve General Charles Gordon, to be circulated in Cabinet. He writes regarding the costings for the expedition and reports that the total estimate is £2,250,000 which includes the construction of a light railway. He writes that they are awaiting an estimate from the Navy but it should not exceed £200-300,000. He writes that the expedition will end by 31 March 1885 and they are contacting the Indian government for permission to use some Indian troops. Sent from: London, date stamped, 26 May.
