Wolseley writes regarding the expedition to Khartoum to relieve General Charles Gordon. He writes that his calculations for the time it will take to for troops to reach Berber from Cairo which totals 24 days. He writes that taking into account preparations and sending Egyptian troops to Wadi Halfa to set up a base for supplies, he could get the troops to Khartoum in 50 days. In a postcript, he writes details of logistics for the mission. He reports that engineers must be sent to Wadi Halfa to complete the railway line, 200 "North American Indians" need to be employed for "boat work" and coal and military stores need to be collected at Wadi Halfa.
