Correspondence with Sir William Athelstane Meredith Goode (1875-1944), journalist and financial adviser, relating to refusal of payment by Goode for a signed article published in the Manchester Guardian, with discussion of the situation in Austria, and the famine in Russia, with thanks by Goode for the notice given to events in Austria by the Manchester Guardian. There is an offer by Goode to recommend an occasional correspondent for the Manchester Guardian in Poland, which is declined.
There is also correspondence relating to articles on Hungary which have appeared in the Manchester Guardian, which Goode feels are unnecessarily critical of the Hungarian government, and a request that Scott read an article on the subject by Sir Arthur Salter, civil servant, politician and political scientist, in the Financial News. Also included is a summary of information on Sir William Goode, produced by Arbeiter-Zeitung in 1926.
GDN/A/G26/3 is an internal employment history index card for Goode, 1924.
GDN/A/G26/1 is an article by Goode entitled 'Self-help in Austria' in the Manchester Guardian, 1921.
GDN/A/G26/8 is an article entitled 'Hungary's Political Stability' by Sir Arthur Salter in the Financial News, 1926.
