Scope and Content

Correspondence between James Robinson, journalist, and E.T. Scott, relating to an application for the position of holiday relief commercial sub-editor at the Manchester Guardian, with details of previous experience, which is successful, and accompanied by a request for references, which are provided. Also included is a letter of recommendation from S.A. Pinder, assistant manager at the Oldham Standard. Also included are arrangements for the beginning of Robinson's employment, and reference to salary.

There is an application by Robinson to be considered for further employment by the paper as a sub-editor, which is declined, as the vacancies have been filled. There is a further offer by Robinson of his services as a holiday relief sub-editor, which is acknowledged.
