Scope and Content

Correspondence with William Edward Armytage Axon (1846-1913), librarian and antiquary, relating to Axon's expression of regret at the termination of his employment as Librarian at the Manchester Guardian. There is correspondence on the allowance made to Axon by the Manchester Guardian following his employment, and a request by Scott that Axon should appeal for his assistance, should he ever be in extreme difficulties.

Also included is a letter from G[eorge] Binney Dibblee, [manager of the Manchester Guardian] complaining about Axon's performance as Librarian.
