Scope and Content

Correspondence with [George] Elliott Dodds, journalist and liberal, relating to a request by Dodds to be considered for employment at the Manchester Guardian, with discussion of Dodds' previous experience; no offer of employment is made.

Also included is correspondence relating to a questionnaire in The Forward View, of which Dodds is editor, and a request for publicity for a campaign entitled The Overdraft Club, intended to raise funds for the National League of Young Liberals, of which Dodds is president. There is a report of the annual conference of the National League of Young Liberals, with correspondence conveying thanks for the coverage of the conference provided in the Manchester Guardian, and discussion of the potential publication of a letter on the League by Dodds and Aubrey Herbert, diplomatist and traveller.

There are letters of recommendation, with discussion of Dodds from S[idney] Ball, socialist, and senior tutor of St Johns College Oxford, professor [I] H Morgan, New College, Oxford, and [unknown].
