Scope and Content

Correspondence with Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford (1896-1976), relating to confirmation of the credentials of [unknown, Lamont?] who has sent a letter to the editor of the Manchester Guardian on the situation in the [Territory of the] Saar [Basin]. Also included is a request by Scott for an [article?] on the breakdown of the Geneva [naval] conference and in support of disarmament and the Locarno treaty. There is a letter providing details of and direction to Scott's home, [The Firs]. There is also a request by Stamford that the Manchester Guardian publish a review of Stories of the British Artists by Margaret Leicester-Warren, which is declined. There is discussion of a proposal by Stamford for the publication of a series of articles on rationalisation by Arthur Shadwell, physician and writer, which are declined, and accompanied by a related internal memorandum.

GDN/A/S87/2-3 are copy letters to Countess Stamford [Lady Jane Turnbull?] relating to the publication of letters of appeal for the British Hospital for Mothers and Babies.
