Scope and Content

Correspondence with Frederick Goodsell, clergyman, relating to an enquiry by Scott as to whether Goodsell would be able to act as a special correspondent for the Manchester Guardian in Smyrna, with discussion of the occupation of the Greek army, and concerns over the danger of a massacre of the Turkish and Christian peoples in the region, and duration of and payment for the proposed employment, which is refused.

Also included is a letter of recommendation for Goodsell by Arnold J. Toynbee, historian, with discussion of Goodsell's experience, and of the current situation in Greece and Turkey.
