Also included is a letter of apology for the industrial action of the Manchester Guardian compositors and readers, which has caused the Manchester Guardian to cease publication.

There are internal memoranda from E.T. Scott to J.R. Scott relating to the employment of Laurence Scott, journalist [and son of J.R. Scott] at the Manchester Guardian, with discussion of the potential departments in which he might work, potential for work at the University [of Manchester] Settlement for Laurence Scott, and a request to be informed of anything published in the paper by Laurence Scott, outside of the Manchester letter.
