Scope and Content

Correspondence with John Lewis Alexander Paton (1863-1946), schoolmaster, relating to discussion of the aid fund for the Russian famine, and Paton's view that an article by Arthur Ramsome, journalist and writer, will have had a detrimental effect.

There is an enquiry by Paton as to whether the Manchester Guardian published a review of A Journey Across the Island of Newfoundland by F.A. Bruton, which is confirmed, and discussion of Paton's position as president of Memorial University College, Newfoundland. Also included is an internal memorandum containing Paton's address.
