Scope and Content

Correspondence with Richard Coke, journalist, relating to the provision of articles on Iraq and on American advisers in Persia, which are published in the Manchester Guardian. Also included is discussion of discussion of potential articles by Coke on Persia, and a request by Coke to be granted permission to send cables to the Manchester Guardian with news from Baghdad, which is refused.

There is correspondence relating to arrangements for and discussion of a meeting between Coke and Scott, and the role of the Manchester Guardian in the Middle East. There is also a request by Coke to be considered for work as a correspondent for the Manchester Guardian on Arab affairs, in light of the current unrest in Arabia.
