Correspondence with Arthur Henry Mann (1876-1972), journalist and editor, relating to the provision by Mann of a signature for a joint letter to be sent to the National Trust to protest against the preference shown to The Times regarding the provision of information about their acquisition of the Ennerdale [Valley], with discussion of the monopoly enjoyed by The Times. There is reference by Scott, in response to an enquiry from Mann, to the advice he intends to give [Henri] Spahlinger, bacteriologist, regarding ignoring attacks made on Spahlinger in the Daily Express. There is a request from Mann for information on the procedure practised at the Manchester Guardian for the return of books sent out for review, which is provided.
Also included is a letter of thanks from E.T. Scott for the appreciation of C.P. Scott provided by Mann on the radio, following his death. There is also a letter from Mann to W.P. Crozier, relating to thanks for congratulations on Mann's award of the Companion of Honour, with discussion of journalism and praise of Crozier's editorship of the Manchester Guardian.
