Correspondence with Eleanor Florence Rathbone (1872-1946), social reformer, relating to an expression of interest in a letter by Rathbone on the policy of the University of London toward women medical students which was published in The Times, and expressing an interest in having published this letter, and future letters on the subject, in the Manchester Guardian.
Also included is a letter to the editor from Rathbone in support of family allowances, with reference to a debate on the subject in the letters to the editor column of the paper between [Marjorie E.] Green, social reformer, and [Albert Arthur] Purcell, trade unionist and socialist, which is declined, owing to the decision by the Manchester Guardian to confine the discussion to Green and Purcell.
There is an offer by Rathbone of a letter and notes on the use of ordinances, made on a visit to India by Rathbone, with discussion of the coverage of the subject in the Manchester Guardian, and an offer of a letter on the subject for publication in the paper, which is accepted. Also included is a related internal memorandum.
