Scope and Content

Correspondence with Henry C. Hughes (1893-1976), architect, relating to a request for an article by Hughes on the activities of the Cambridge Preservation Society to be published in the Manchester Guardian, alongside an announcement regarding the purchase of land at Madingley, and an appeal for financial assistance, which is accepted. Also included is discussion of the timing of the announcement and the appeal, and of Scott's objection that the announcement was sent only to The Times.

GDN/A/H100/5-6 are newspaper cuttings of an article entitled 'Preservation of Cambridge; Acquisition of Land at Madingley' and showing a map of the land acquired, [1929].
