Correspondence with William Mather Rutherford Pringle (1874-1928), politician, relating to discussion of a complaint by Pringle over the coverage in the Manchester Guardian of the by-election in St Ives, with reference to the policy and position taken by Hilda Runciman, politician. The grounds for complaint are refuted by Scott, who maintains that it important for the policies on which the election was being fought to be publicised. There is also discussion of the divisions within the Liberal party and the lack of support for Runciman given by [David] Lloyd George, prime minister.
